Nexium 24HR Tablets contain esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). PPIs are used to treat a variety of conditions, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Many people who have symptoms of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome do not have symptoms at all. Other symptoms may include difficulty swallowing, heartburn, excessive stomach acid, difficulty sleeping, and losing weight. When used as directed, it may help to reduce heartburn and to limit the amount of stomach acid your body absorbs. Esomeprazole reduces the amount of acid that the stomach makes and maintains a healthy pH. It is a proton pump inhibitor and works by decreasing the amount of acid that the stomach makes. Esomeprazole is a type of drug called a proton pump inhibitor. It blocks the production of acid in the stomach by inhibiting the enzyme that produces acid. This leads to a decreased amount of food and stomach contents in the stomach andhattan. It also reduces the amount of acid in the intestine. Esomeprazole is available both as tablets and in a delayed-release (dilu-dione) capsule. Take the proton pump inhibitor prescribed for the entire duration of your therapy. Do not stop taking esomeprazole suddenly, as esomeprazole can cause new drug rejection syndrome (MDPRS), a serious side effect that may be life-threatening. Esomeprazole may cause diarrhea.

Unlike other types of antiretrovirals, Nexium can also be taken with or without food.

Nexium does not cause an automatic breakdown of the stomach. It is a proton pump inhibitor and works by reducing the amount of acid produced. Nexium is a PPI that inhibits the reabsorption of acid into the stomach's barrier. Nexium works by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach, which allows the stomach to fill with stomach contents.
