Pharmaceutical Company H. W. Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: PFE: PHY) today announced that it has reached a settlement with the Pharmaceutical Society of North America (PSNA) regarding claims for the generic versions of the AstraZeneca patent on proton pump inhibitor Nexium™. In the settlement, the PSA agreed to a 180-day exclusivity period for the generic version of the product. The exclusivity period was subsequently extended to April 30, 2024, with the full exclusivity period extending until December 31, 2024, when Nexium™ was reclassified as a generic. As a result, AstraZeneca has agreed to pay the PSA $10.1 million (excluding $9.3 million paid to PSNA) and the remaining $8.1 million in additional costs to PSNA.
“Today’s settlement with the PSA provides AstraZeneca with a clear and effective path to repose in the market for its generic version of Nexium™,” said John L. In addition to the PSA, PSNA has also reached a settlement with AstraZeneca, which is seeking to recover $8.1 million, as a result of the settlement, which included a payment of the PSA to PSNA. The PSA agreed to a 180-day exclusivity period for the generic version of the product. As a result of this agreement, AstraZeneca has agreed to pay the PSA $10.1 million (excluding $9.3 million paid to PSNA) and the remaining $8.1 million in additional costs to PSNA.

Nexium™, a generic version of the prescription drug esomeprazole, is a once-daily delayed-release formulation of the active ingredient proton pump inhibitor esomeprazole. Nexium™ is approved for indications other than those listed in the U. S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) summary of product characteristics (the “FDA’s summary of product characteristics”) and is indicated in patients who are at least 2 years old, have a history of hypersensitivity to esomeprazole, or who are currently using an anti-asthma medication. What is Reflux?

Alternative method of taking this medicine• Put the tablet in a glass of still (non-fizzy) water.
